The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the removal of 64 teachers across the country from the Register of Teachers as a disciplinary measure.
In a notice on Saturday, April 20, the commission’s CEO Nancy Macharia warned the teachers whose names were listed against engaging in any teaching activities.
Further, the notice indicated that the named individuals had been removed from service between October 23, 2023, and March 8, 2024.
“Where the name of any teacher is removed from the register under this Act, such name shall not be reinstated except by direction of the Commission. A teacher whose name has been removed from the register shall cease to be a teacher for purposes of this Act with effect from the date of such removal.”
“A person shall not engage in the teaching service unless such a person is registered as a teacher under this Act,” TSC stated.
