“We have negotiated for opportunities to export labour from Kenya. We advised the other day for 2,500 nurses. So far imagine we have only 500, and these are people who are going to earn over Ksh 200,000,” said Ruto.
However, the Kenya Kwanza leaders claimed that they were not aware of the 2,500 nursing opportunities mentioned by the president.

Ruto Fires Back
Ruto explained that the government advertised the opportunities in local newspapers adding that he has also mentioned the nursing jobs in all his previous public forums.
“It was advertised in the press, and I have talked about this thing in every meeting continuously. I hear people here saying they are not aware, so what should we do? How loud should we speak?” asked the president.

The President emphasized that the Labour Ministry still needs 2000 more nurses and urged the leaders to always do a follow up on the announcements made during meetings.
“When you attend these meetings and hear that their opportunities for nurses should you not go and check on it,” he said.
He dismissed the leaders who claimed they had no idea of the nursing opportunities adding that they were only looking for excuses.
“What do you mean you haven’t been told, who do you want to tell you this? Don’t you read newspapers? Do you think what I am always saying is all “hot air”? Do you understand English?” posed the President.

The President Urges Leaders to Conduct Research
Ruto maintained that he announced the opportunities in his public tours including one in Bungoma County.
He told the leaders to do research on the foreign jobs announced by the government and relay the information to the people.
“An intelligent person will leave and do what they need to do. You have constituents, they will take offense if they discover that there are opportunities advertised everywhere and nobody went for them,” Ruto told the leaders.
He revealed that the government has five hundred thousand of foreign job opportunities for Kenyans.

Consequently, the head of state noted that leaders are people’s representatives, and they should concentrate their energy in the right place.
He stated that so many people are looking for jobs in government offices, hence leaders should link them to the advertised opportunities.
“There are jobs out there, and there are young people all over the place. We need to connect them to the opportunities,” he explained.
German Jobs
The President said he is negotiating with the German government to create more jobs for Kenyans.
“We are almost concluding the agreement with the German government because they have asked us for 250,000 job opportunities. They want us to conclude the agreement before June,” he said.
He further noted that the leader’s efforts are needed in changing Kenya’s fate including in provision of foreign jobs.
