United States (US) Embassies across the world are holding online auctions to get rid of their surplus movable property. These include cars, furniture, electronics and media equipment like cameras.
The auctions are being held on different dates in February and March for two weeks.
Also, the missions indicated that interested parties are allowed to place their bids between Monday and Friday once the auction is opened.
Further, interested persons were informed that the auction will be taking place through a web application, where all information about the actions can also be accessed.
The website can be viewed anywhere on any device, as long as you have an internet connection.
“US Embassies are selling surplus movable property (SMP) via a Web Based Electronic Auction. Each auction will be activated for a period of time clearly stating the start and end date.
“This information is available on the information panel of the web application. Usually, it will be active from Monday to Friday lasting two weeks. During this period, you can actively take part and submit your bid for the surplus property,” indicated the missions.

Global Auctions
The US Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine is auctioning vehicles for as low as Ksh236,000.
Moreover, the auction is set to close on February 27, 2024.
Among the vehicles on auction are a black 2008 Toyota LC Prado with a gasoline engine 4,0l going for Ksh545,386, a white 2013 Ford Focus, with a 1 6l gasoline engine going for Ksh400,458, and a grey 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe with a 5 3l gasoline engine going for Ksh236,461
Also, the embassy is auctioning a white 2012 Ford Transit with a 2.2l diesel engine at Ksh480,550, a black 2008 Toyota LC Prado with a 4.0l gasoline engine at Ksh335,622, and an automatic 2017 white Toyota LC Prado with a 4.0l gasoline engine at Ksh675,058.
“Sold as is, no warranties can be provided on working order or condition of items sold on this auction.
“Customs NOT cleared, customs duties must be paid first and only afterwards the vehicle can be registered in the owner’s name, the embassy indicated.
Other items on auction include office equipment, gym equipment, office furniture, dishwashers, servers and computer parts, Industrial kitchen equipment, carpets, and mattresses among other items.

According to the website, these items are being actioned at up to Ksh300 depending on the item at its condition from various countries.
These countries include Uganda, Congo, Bulgaria, Georgia, the United Arab Emirates, Armenia, Nepal, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Denmark, China, Mexico, Philippines, Ghana and others.
East African US Embassies Auction
In East Africa, the US Embassy in Uganda is listed among the missions putting up items for auction.
Further, the Ugandan embassy will be opening its auction on March 4, for nine days according to a notice from the institution.
The items being auctioned from Kampala, the country’s capital include carpets selling at Ksh1,116, reception and garden chairs worth Ksh3,717 and containers of the same amount.
Additionally, the embassy is auctioning microwaves and refrigerators at Ksh3,717, washers and dryers at Ksh1,858, and Vacuum cleaners at Ksh1,800.
Other items set for auction include air purifiers, water distillers, water heaters, water coolers, projectors, binding machines, monitors and landline phones.
