Wanted businessman and “pastor” James Wanjohi, who is at the center of a scam involving over 4,000 job seekers has broken his silence days after police launched a manhunt for him.
Wanjohi in an undated video seen by The Kenya Times denied allegations that he runs a visa facilitation syndicate that linked him to the loss of Ksh600 million.
In the video, Wanjohi who had been reported as a preacher denied being a clergyman saying that he has not been serving as a preacher.
Regarding working as a pastor, Wanjohi maintained that he was only involved in building up of churches.
According to him, he only helped in building churches which he later handed over to other bishops and pastors, a venture he labelled as his calling.
“I never thought that the media could peddle such blatant lies. I want to respond to the lies and false allegations that have been implicated against my personality and that of Worth Start Limited,” he explained.

“They are saying that I am a con pastor that I scammed my church members. There is no church called Jesus Culture Roysambu. They are lying.”
In his defense, he called out journalists challenging them to interview the alleged church members.
Wanjohi further asked members of the public to demand to see the alleged church for themselves.
Wanjohi denies being a pastor
He maintained that he was involved in the building of the said Jesus Culture Ministries church and handed it over years ago.
While addressing allegations about the Ksh600 million job scam, the aspiring politician indicated that his Worth Start Limited company has only been in existence for one year.

According to Wanjohi, this timeline makes it difficult to have amassed the amount as alleged in the exposé.
“Worth Start is not even one year old. They say I have 4,000 clients; I haven’t even reached a 1,000.
They are saying Ksh600 million that I am hearing and seeing in newspapers. I wish it was true I could have paid tax and helped a lot of people,” he said.
The former Member of Parliament aspirant further accused individuals after denting his political career of being behind the attacks.
He accused unnamed persons of sponsoring attacks against him, all of which he dismissed as misleading information aimed at damaging his career and political ambitions.
“But do not let someone stop paying money because they are feeling threatened by my 2027 candidature. I will be on the ballot!” declared Wanjohi.
The flashy businessman while lamenting of his personality being hurt questioned why he was the only person countrywide being shown on the headlines and not his Worth Start company.
Investigations launched
Furthermore, Wanjohi has maintained that he is a law-abiding citizen and is willing to cooperate until all the investigations are done.
His remarks came after detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) launched a manhunt following complaints from several jobseekers who claimed the pastor conned them in the name of God.
Wanjohi is accused of conning more than 4,000 Kenyans seeking greener pastures abroad with the amount accumulating to over Ksh600 million.
DCI detectives investigating the case on moved to stop the preacher and three other accused agency directors from leaving the country through the Immigration Department by putting a stop order for them not to fly out of the country as the probe into the scam continues.
Among other moves made by detectives is initiating the process of stopping the pastor from liquidating his properties believed to be proceeds of crime
On the other hand, DCI officers seized all vehicles registered by Wanjohi’s name.
