National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has issued directives to members of Parliament following changes made within President William Ruto’s government.
The directives pertain to the list of nominees selected by President Ruto to serve as Principal Secretaries across various government departments.

In a statement dated Thursday, March 26, the National Assembly Speaker directed the respective parliamentary committees overseeing the departments to which the PSs have been appointed to immediately begin the vetting exercise process and subsequently table their reports on or before Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
“The respective committees to which the nominations have been referred are expected to promptly commence the approval process and thereafter table their reports on or before Tuesday, April 22, 2025, to enable the House to consider the nominees within the statutory timelines,” the statement read.

Wetangula Gives Direction on Vetting of PSs
Wetangula further directed the clerk of the National Assembly to pass the message to all members of Parliament.
“The Clerk is hereby required to transmit this notification to all Members of the National Assembly and facilitate the committees in undertaking the necessary approval hearings for the nominees referred to them for consideration,” said Wetangula.

According to the National Assembly Speaker, the vetting exercise will be spearheaded by 12 committees.

These include the Administration and Internal Security Committee; the Communication, Information and Innovation Committee; the Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committee; the Education Committee; the Finance and National Planning Committee; the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee; the Labour Committee; the Health Committee; the Regional Development Committee; the Social Protection Committee; the Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Committee; and the Transport and Infrastructure Committee.
