National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has directed Ikolomani Member of Parliament (MP) Bernard Shinali to take over the operations of Malava constituency after the death of Malulu Injendi.
In a statement on February 3, Wetangula said Malava residents need someone to be in-charge as they wait for a by-election.

He mentioned that there is no functional Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) hence the decision to have Shinali oversee the operations of the constituency.
“Noting that Malava electorate will wait longer before getting another MP due to delay in establishment of the IEBC, I assured them that I will ensure that their interests and projects started by the late Injendi are actualized,” Wetangula said.

Wetangula Message to Western Politicians
Additionally, he asked politicians in Western to stop confrontational politics in funerals noting that such behavior portrayed the region negatively.
Wetangula raised concerns about politicians increasingly disrupting funerals in their fight for political supremacy, causing destruction that ultimately burdens the grieving families.
“As I called on leaders to respect the dead, I reminded them that political might will not be earned in funerals and asked my colleagues to comfort the bereaved families instead of adding more pain to them by causing chaos and damage to properties,” he said.
