The Ford Kenya Party (FKP), which is affiliated to National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, has castigated comments made by United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malala on merger of parties in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
Part of the Ford Kenya youth have criticized Malala for asking other parties, including Amani National Congress (ANC) and FKP, to fold up and join the ruling party, UDA.
Speaking at the party headquarters in Nairobi on Tuesday, September 5, the youth disapproved Malala’s statements adding that there was no agreement within the Kenya Kwanza coalition to dissolve affiliate parties after the last general elections.
Further, the youths stressed that Malala’s remarks were his personal opinion and not that of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
Additionally, they warned that such utterances may lead to divisions within the ruling coalition.
They were led by FKP National Youth President, Musa Chekai, and Bungoma County Youth Leader, William Chiveli.
Malala Mockery
Over the weekend, Malala dismissed the ambitions of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula of winning the presidency.
Speaking in Kakamega County, on Friday, September 1, Malala said the parties from the region are ethnic-based and cannot form the government.

“I don’t want to mention names but there is a party from this region where the party leader, Secretary General and the Woman leader are all from the same clan.

Why would such people lie to themselves that they can become president,” said Malala.
Further, he called on Mudavadi and Wetangula to dissolve their parties and join UDA as they position themselves for the presidency in 2032.
Malala made the remarks while receiving defectors from Vihiga County to the UDA party.
Push to Dissolve Parties
Previously, Malala had requested politicians in the Kenya Kwanza government to dissolve their political parties and join UDA.
Malala said the politicians who hold top positions in government should choose between sticking to be party leaders and retaining their posts.
“You have no business being a Cabinet Secretary if you are still holding onto your party,” said Malala.

Also, Embu Governor Martin Wambora of Umoja na Maendeleo party, Alfayo Agufana (National Agenda Party of Kenya) and Issack Hassan Abey (Economic Freedom Party) agreed to fold up their parties and join UDA.
