The Kenya Police normally utilise water cannon trucks to disperse protesters during demonstrations.
The use of water cannon trucks was prevalent during the Azimio protests in 2023 and the anti-finance bill demonstrations in 2024.
These trucks are manufactured by International Armoured Group (IAG), a quality-focused armoured vehicle manufacturer with over 30 years of experience.
IAG specialises in the design, engineering, prototyping, and manufacture of armoured commercial and tactical vehicles, armoured components, and ballistic glass and framing systems.
It has locations in the United States (U.S.), Canada, the United Kingdom (UK), the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Türkiye, and Bulgaria.
IAG’s engineering department boasts over 60 years of combined experience in the design and manufacture of armoured vehicles.
The company features a state-of-the-art production facility that enables highly skilled engineers and technicians to convert any vehicle platform into a fully re-engineered protective vehicle.
These include VIP Protection, Luxury and Operational SUVs and cars, Police and Law Enforcement, Pickups and Trucks, Ambulances, Tactical and Armoured Personnel Carriers, Anti-Riot vehicles, and Cash-in-Transit vehicles.
It has thousands of vehicles operating in some of the most hostile environments globally.
Additionally, the company offers exclusive Smartarmor™ technology across its entire product portfolio.
This technology has a proven track record of countering a wide range of ballistic and blast attacks.
Armoured Anti-Riot Truck
IAG’s cutting-edge Armoured Anti-Riot Truck is engineered from the ground up.
The fully armoured vehicle accommodates up to twelve personnel and is designed to provide ballistic, mine-blast, and IED protection, capable of being armoured to CEN B7/NIJ Level IV and STANAG Level I and II.
The Armoured Anti-Riot vehicle comes equipped with a heavy-duty detachable hydraulic ram system to clear roadblocks, alongside a roof-mounted 360-degree turret with optional custom mounts for 7.62mm or .50 Cal machine guns, including a remote firing station and optional grenade launcher pods that are reloadable from inside.
It also features a sophisticated Command Control System, which incorporates surveillance cameras, night vision capabilities, a PA system with strobe lights, roof monitors, and fire suppression systems.
The Armoured Anti-Riot vehicle serves as an excellent solution for various scenarios, including riot control, deployment of security personnel, maintaining peace and order, as well as providing support for reconnaissance and patrolling duties.
The vehicle’s fully armoured body and essential features, such as the hydraulic ram/barricade removal system, enable it to function as a front-line defence in hostile situations and precarious scenarios.
