Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Kaluma stormed out of a live TV interview amid an intense argument with Gatundu South MP Gabriel Kagombe.
While appearing on KTN on August 9, MP Kaluma said he cannot be in a discussion with leaders who are childish.
“I regard myself as a leader not a child, when you are in leadership you cannot afford to be childish. You people are juvenile. Kenya is bigger than the idiots you have in Mt. Kenya.” MP Kaluma stated.
Furthermore, the discussion dubbed ‘Fresh Round Talk’ revolved around the bipartisan talks between the Azimio side and Kenya Kwanza.
However, it took a turn to the what the Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome alleged that the Azimio One Kenya Alliance Coalition hired dead bodies to represent victims of police brutality during anti-government demonstrations.

Why Kaluma Walked Out
Consequently, MP Kaluma expressed his frustrations on IG Koome’s remarks.
“I can tell Kangombe what the police under the instructions of whoever instructed them, did in Kisumu on the night of seven July cannot be done in any part of this country and it remains peaceful.” Kaluma stated.
The Homa Bay lawmaker gave an account of his experience when he visited Kisumu hospital and saw several dead bodies and injured people from the violence during the protests.
“These are not bodies who are buried, in fact so many of them are still hospitalized struggling for their lives. I was in Kisumu after meeting eleven bodies still down, four had been taken for burial and in a short while two others died, and I was from burying another five.” MP Kaluma shared an emotional encounter.
MP Kaluma questioned the distance from Nairobi to Kisumu, noting that the Inspector General with everything including chopper could not go and witness for himself.
However, Gatundu South MP Gabriel Kangombe did not take his emotional state to account and blamed Azimio leaders for orchestrating the protests that led to the deaths of their people.
“We must discuss the concept of causing effects, you cannot use people as a shield, as a currency for your political expedition. You cannot use people as human shields and tell them today let’s go and face the police…” Kangombe stated.

It is at this moment that Kaluma requested the moderator of the debate Ken Mijungu to allow him to leave before raining harsh words on his Gatundu South counterpart.
Moreover, the Homa Bay MP went ahead to cite Article 75 of the Constitution, which dictates how the IG conducted himself while delivering the statement as insensitive.
According to the lawmaker, any sane country will say that IG Koome’s conduct is not of a public officer.
IG Koome’s Sentiments
IG Koome while speaking on Tuesday, August 8 criticized opposition leaders arguing that they bent too low to create a bad impression of the national police service commission.
“We have seen in the recent past senior members of the society going to mortuaries and hiring dead bodies, calling media and telling them that the dead people were killed by police officers,” he said.
