Kenya has been selected to host another continental tournament, just weeks after staging the CHAN 2024 competition from August 2 to 30, 2025.
In its latest achievement, the country will host the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Africa Continental Qualifiers at Nairobi’s Field of Dreams in JKUAT.
The softball qualifiers (Senior Women and U23 Men & Women) will run from November 25–30, while the baseball qualifiers (Men’s U15) will take place from December 5–7.
Kenya to Host World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Africa Continental Qualifiers
The IfWeBuildIt.org organization announced the selection on Friday, September 19, 2025, citing the success of the recent Nairobi Baseball Community Championship Festival as proof of Kenya’s ability to host world-class events.
“Following the success of one of the largest baseball events in Kenyan history, Nairobi’s Field of Dreams has been selected to host the prestigious WBSC Africa Continental Qualifiers,” read the statement.
The September 13 festival drew more than 1,000 fans, over 200 Little Leaguers, 50 volunteers, and dozens of partners under the theme “Hitting Home Runs for Youth, Sports, and Education.”

It featured championship games, cultural performances, a food and innovation marketplace, VIP dignitaries, evening entertainment, and community showcases.
Thom Wallace, co-founder of IfWeBuildIt.org, said the event was about more than sport.
“This Festival was about much more than two championship games. It was about proving what’s possible in the Kenyan sports ecosystem when communities, private sector partners, and youth come together around a shared purpose,” he said.

He added that milestones such as Nairobi’s first Little League championship, an international broadcast, and the inaugural M-Kopa–sponsored night home run contest were laying the foundation for youth and sports to thrive across Africa, while shaping the next generation of leaders.
US Chargé d’Affaires in Kenya, Susan Burns, also praised the festival, commending organizers for elevating the sport’s profile.
“It really felt like an American Saturday afternoon at the Nairobi Field of Dreams. JKUAT, IfWeBuildIt.org, and the Nairobi Baseball Community are showing that baseball is truly a global sport, and hosting these continental qualifiers will further cement Kenya’s role in African baseball development,” she said.
