Former Nairobi Governor Dr. Evans Kidero has said Members of Parliament from the opposition party Azimio la Umoja have failed Kenyans in putting the government in check.
While appearing on K24 on 23 August, the former Governor stated that Azimio MPs are only interested in sharing the seats while abandoning their role as opposition.
“All they are interested in is sharing seats, not making sure that the systems, processes and institutions work, Azimio this is the work of opposition,” Dr. Kidero said.
Furthermore, Dr. Kidero called out the opposition leaders for not informing Kenyans about government borrowing loans but involve Kenyans in protests over the cost of living.
“I haven’t had a single MP from Azimio talking about the loan even before it goes to Senate or Parliament. Instead, they are concerned about demonstrations on the streets with ‘sufurias’ on people’s heads.” Kidero added.
Moreover, the former Nairobi Governor, defended President William Ruto and accused the Senate of failing to do its job as per the powers accorded to it.
“The President cannot be everywhere, there are institutions that are supposed to work. I don’t think the Senate has exhausted the powers that it has, I believe there is more they can do than just complain,” Kidero said.

Kidero Agrees with DP Gachagua on Bipartisan Talks
Dr. Evans Kidero further supported Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s comments on the bipartisan talks that they will amount to nothing as Azimio’s only goal is to get into government, with the hope of a handshake.
“What I said last week echoes what the Deputy President said that there is no end game for Azimio, they said they need a million people to storm into State House, they carried sufurias in their head and they started collecting signatures, all that has come end.” Kidero stated.

Furthermore, Kidero accused Azimio coalition of being egocentric and urged them to wait for the next elections to go back to the ballot.
“Azimio just want to raise emotions of Kenyans, all they are interested in is a piece of the pie, all they are interested in is getting into government. Let them wait for 2027,” the former Govenor noted.
