Tech entrepreneur Ndiangui Kinyagia was once again in the spotlight on Thursday, July 24, as the High Court continued to dig into his controversial disappearance in June.
Kinyagia appeared before Justice Chacha Mwita of the High Court on Thursday morning, days after he resurfaced from his alleged abduction.
Ndiangui was represented by lawyer Kibe Mungai, alongside Martha Karua and the Law Society of Kenya, who had backed the petition on his disappearance.
During the court session, the mystery surrounding his disappearance and subsequent resurfacing widened after lawyers clashed over varying accounts in affidavits.
Subsequently, the LSK and Martha expressed their intention to withdraw from the case.
Addressing the court, Kinyagia said he is ready to testify in the case. However, the tech entrepreneur requested protection from the Court, saying that he was afraid of being arrested.
“Your Honour, I would like to request two things: an adjournment and protection from arrest so that I can have the opportunity to review the affidavit I hold,” he stated.

In turn, Justice Chacha Mwita ordered Ndiangui Kinyagia to submit an affidavit within 14 days explaining his disappearance on June 21, 2025, and the events that preceded his resurfacing.
This court appearance marks a crucial moment in what has been a highly anticipated unfolding of events. It promises to shed light on the mysterious 12 days during which Ndiangui was absent and silent, putting an end to the swirling public controversy and speculation.
Justice Chacha Mwita said the hearing will resume on September 16, 2025.
Ndiangui Kinyagia’s tribulations
The controversy started four days before the June 25 protests when reports that the tech entrepreneur had gone missing emerged.
A timetable for a purported plan to storm State House is believed to have been the source of his predicaments as the government agencies had launched a crackdown on vocal voices behind the call for protests.

In the wake of the tension associated with planned nationwide demos, Kenyans on social media called for the release of Kinyagia.
The LSK filed a habeas corpus application seeking to compel the Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin to produce the missing person in court after reports emerged that DCI officers had raided his premises.
The High Court then ordered Amin, to personally appear in court on July 3, to explain the whereabouts of the missing blogger.
Ndiangui would later resurface on July 3 as his case took a different turn. His family, through lawyer Wahome Thuku, said the blogger had been hiding after concerns that the DCI was pursuing him.
Ndiangui’s case adds to a list of cases of enforced disappearances that have continued to spark protests from human rights defenders and even the international community.
