Eldoret residents have raised concerns over the increasing number of child trafficking within Langas area.
According to reports, over 30 children went missing in the past two months.
Additionally, most of the victims are girls of ages below 8 years.
Majority of the affected parents claim that the disappearance happens mostly in the morning and evening.
Jeniffer Achieng, one of the victims’ mother lost her 1-year 7 months old baby on January 4.
The Langas-based resident narrated how her daughter, went missing while playing with friends at around 8 in the morning.
“Together with neighbors and other kids, we started looking for the baby. After asking from other kids, they said that there was a woman who picked the baby requesting for her accompany,” reported Jennifer.
“The other kids did not know her whereabouts because they were also young,”

Similarly, another resident narrated how she lost her granddaughter on February 24, 2024 at around 6 in the evening.

“She was a pupil at Solasa. She went missing while on weekend,” Josphine Mwihaki revealed.
Elsewhere, Eunice Atieno narrated how she lost her 6-year-old baby, under unclear circumstances.
According to her account, an unknown lady approached children who were playing before luring them to follow her.
“She went with the baby till today,” recalled Eunice.
The affected parents together with Eldoret Human Rights activist, Benson Juma accused the police of negligence.
“They take it so lightly. There is no way more than 30 children can go missing without a tress,” demanded the activist.
Also, they pleaded with officers to take action on the mystery behind children missing in the area.
Kapseret police Commander, Sarah Chumo confirmed that 4 children have been reported missing and investigation into the matter was ongoing.

Elsewhere, a family in Mwingi is pleading for help after their seven-month-old baby was stolen in a bus that was travelling from Nairobi to Mwingi on February 29, 2024.

According to her mother’s narration, some woman was playing with her first-born daughter while they were on their journey.
In an incident that seemed like a drugged case, the woman fell asleep on her way and when she woke up, she discovered that she didn’t have her baby and the mysterious woman had disappeared.
The victim has filed a report in two police stations but she’s yet to find her daughter.
