Lawrence Murimi, a boy who went viral after reporting to his form one admission with a rooster as fees, has passed his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
The news was shared by televangelist Bishop Ben Kiengei on January 9, who was among the benefactors who stepped in to sponsor Murimi.
Kingei took to his Facebook account to celebrate Murimi’s performance in the KCSE, noting that the boy has made him proud after passing his national examinations.
“Lawrence Murimi, thank you for making me a proud man. He has passed with flying colours,” read part of his post.
Lawrence made headlines after he reportedly arrived at Kangaru High School in Embu County with only a rooster due to lack of school fees.
In widely circulated photos, Murimi was in the company of his mother and was dressed in his primary school uniform.
Upon arriving at his would-be school, the duo was turned away, leaving both of them in tears.
At that time, Murimi was 14 years old and had scored 313 marks in the 2021 KCPE examinations.
