Media personality and journalist Janet Mbugua is returning to television screens after a hiatus, this time as the host of NTV’s new show named Healthy Nation.
In an announcement on June 26, the show will be themed “Your Health, Your Wealth,” and is scheduled to premiere on June 28, 2026, at 6 p.m.
“Healthy Nation, Your health, Your wealth, With Janet Mbugua. Premieres on 28th June 2026 6 PM,” read part of the announcement.
The programme will focus on health and wellness issues and carries the slogan, “A healthier tomorrow starts here.”
Before her new show, Janet co-hosted Fixing the Nation, which airs on NTV Kenya and Nation FM.
Janet Mbugua’s Role During Fixing the Nation Show
Mbugua announced her final on-air appearance on Friday, April 17, when she co-hosted the show with Eric Latiff and Mariam Bishar.
In her farewell remarks, Janet said that she joined the show during a period of heightened national events, and that the program provided a natural platform to continue her advocacy and promote active citizenship through mainstream media.
Mbugua said stepping away from the programme was not an easy decision but one driven by evolving personal and professional priorities.

She noted that she would continue to engage with her audience on her social media platforms despite leaving the show.
The former Citizen TV news anchor also thanked viewers for their unwavering support throughout her time on the programme, as well as the production teams she worked with behind the scenes.
Fixing the Nation is a weekday programme airing from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. across Nation Media Group platforms, where experts, leaders and members of the public discuss national issues.

Career Background
Before joining NMG, Janet Mbugua served as a prime-time news anchor at Citizen TV, part of Royal Media Services, where she spent several years on air alongside senior journalists, including Hussein Mohamed.
She exited Citizen TV in 2017 before stepping away from daily newsroom duties to concentrate on advocacy work, philanthropy, and independent content production.
Over the years, she has also worked with media houses in South Africa and developed issue-based television programming, including earlier stints at NTV before her transition from full-time broadcasting.
Beyond journalism, Janet Mbugua is the founder of the Inua Dada Foundation, a non-profit organisation focused on empowering adolescent girls in Kenya through education support, menstrual health dignity, reproductive health awareness, and leadership development.
