Syria has affirmed its full respect for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and its sovereignty over its entire territory. Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani made the announcement on Thursday, May 14, during his visit to Rabat.
Al-Shaibani held talks with his Moroccan counterpart, Nassr Bourita, with both sides expressing a commitment to strengthening cooperation across sectors.
In the communiqué, the top Syrian diplomat stressed that the Syrian Arab Republic welcomes and supports United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 2797, which marks a turning point in efforts the achieve a lasting political solution to this regional dispute.
Al-Shaibani is undertaking his first official visit to the Kingdom at the head of a high-level delegation, with the aim of giving strong new momentum to relations between the two brotherly countries.
Syria and Morocco’s bilateral ties
Morocco and Syria reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening their bilateral cooperation across various fields.
Both parties welcomed the positive dynamic characterizing the relations between the two countries and reaffirmed their determination to give them new momentum in all fields, to advance them toward new horizons, and to elevate their cooperation to a higher level.

In this context, both parties agreed to initiate a review of the legal and institutional frameworks governing their bilateral relations, in line with their shared ambitions.
This aims to align the ties between the two countries with more modern, effective mechanisms better adapted to current challenges.
Both parties also underscored the need to inject new momentum into cooperation across various strategic sectors – whether political, economic, commercial, cultural, or humanitarian – in order to open new prospects and strengthen the historical and fraternal ties uniting the two sister peoples.

He commended the constant efforts undertaken by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, the defend the holy city of Al-Quds and its inhabitants.
The Syrian official particularly stressed Morocco’s consistent commitment to the Palestinian cause, especially through initiatives in favor of the inhabitants of Al-Quds, aimed at strengthening their resilience, preserving the cultural and spiritual identity of Al-Quds Asharif, and supporting their attachment to the holy city in the face of the challenges they confront.
