The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have eliminated dozens of Hamas terrorists and dismantled hundreds of the group’s infrastructure sites in the Khan Yunis area of Gaza over the past two months, the military said.
In a statement released on Sunday, November 9, the IDF said that during the operations, its forces also discovered a Hamas tunnel shaft, weapons, and observation equipment.
Israel Eliminates Dozens of Hamas Terrorists in Khan Yunis
“Over the past two months, IDF troops operated in the Khan Yunis area and were later redeployed east of the Yellow Line in accordance with the directives of the political echelon to support the ceasefire framework,” the statement read.
“During the operations: Dozens of terrorists were eliminated, hundreds of terrorist infrastructure sites above and below ground were dismantled, and Hamas tunnel shafts, weapons, and observation equipment were located.”
IDF Wants Okay to Kill or Accept Surrender of 100 Terrorists Stuck in Gaza Tunnels
The developments come after reports that the IDF is seeking government approval to either eliminate or accept the surrender of around 100 Hamas terrorists holed up in tunnels within Israeli-controlled territory in Gaza, according to Channel 12.
The U.S. has reportedly been pushing Israel to allow safe passage or exile overseas for these fighters if they surrender their weapons.
The IDF also said the operatives are commanded by a Hamas deputy battalion commander from Rafah and that mediating countries have been able to communicate with the Hamas operatives, according to the military.
In recent days, IDF troops killed several Hamas terrorists attempting to cross the Yellow Line, the boundary separating ceasefire zones between Hamas- and IDF-controlled areas.
On Wednesday, November 5, soldiers killed two terrorists approaching their positions in central Gaza.
“IDF troops under the Southern Command remain deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threat,” the IDF said.
This marked the third consecutive day that Hamas terrorists were killed while attempting to cross the Yellow Line.
According to the IDF, air and ground forces struck terrorists who crossed in southern Gaza on Monday, and another was killed on Tuesday in the north.
The incidents were separate, as the terrorists were not attempting to cross together, the IDF added.
Israel’s Minister of Defence, Israel Katz, had earlier in October ordered the IDF to warn Hamas leaders through U.S. oversight that any fighters remaining beyond the Yellow Line in territory under Israeli control must evacuate immediately.
“I have instructed the IDF to convey a clear message to the Hamas leaders in Gaza through the American oversight mechanism: every Hamas terrorist found beyond the Yellow Line in the territory under Israel’s control must evacuate immediately,” Katz said.
“Anyone who remains in the area will be a target for attack without any further warning, and Hamas leaders will bear responsibility for any incident.”
Key Terrorist in Hamas Rafah Brigade Killed
The IDF on August 9, 2025, reported a key strike in Khan Yunis, eliminating Nasser Musa, a senior terrorist in Hamas’ Rafah Brigade who served as the Head of the group’s Military Control Department.
Musa was responsible for operational readiness and exercises in the Rafah Brigade, which carried out attacks against both IDF troops and Israeli civilians during the war.
He was a close associate of Mohammad Sabaneh, the commander of the Rafah Brigade, who was eliminated in May 2025. Musa held multiple roles, including military intelligence and observation array operations.
According to the IDF, Musa’s elimination significantly degrades the Rafah Brigade’s operational capabilities and Hamas’s ability to carry out attacks against Israeli forces in the area.
