The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced the resumption of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and the commencement of Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise in selected areas.
In a Gazette Notice CXXVIII-No. 108 dated June 24, 2026, the electoral body said the month-long registration exercise began on Thursday, June 25, and will run until Saturday, July 25, 2026.
“IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by Articles 83 and 88 (4) (a) of the Constitution of Kenya, sections 5, 7 and 8 of the Elections Act, 2011 and Regulations 3, 4, 5 and 7 of the Elections (Registration of Voters) Regulations, 2012 and following the conduct of By- Elections and the determination of election petitions in Malava and Mbeere North Constituencies, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission gives notice that there will be enhanced continuous voter registration of voters from Thursday, 25th June, 2026 to Saturday, 25th July, 2026,” the notice states.
IEBC Resumes Voter Registration in Select Regions
According to the commission, the enhanced voter registration exercise will be conducted in five electoral areas, including Mbeere North Constituency, Porro County Assembly Ward in Samburu West Constituency, Endo County Assembly Ward in Marakwet East Constituency, Emurua Dikirr Constituency, and Malava Constituency.

The exercise follows recent electoral developments, including by-elections and the resolution of election petitions that affected some of the areas.
Voter registration services will be offered at the County Assembly Ward level, Constituency Offices, Huduma Centers, institutions of higher learning located within the specified electoral areas, and the Commission’s Customer Experience Center located on the ground floor of Anniversary Towers.
The commission has also expanded access to registration services by ensuring that registration operations will run daily throughout the registration period.
Services Available to Eligible Voters
The commission said the exercise is open to eligible Kenyan citizens aged 18 or older who possess either a valid national identity card or a valid Kenyan passport.
During the registration period, eligible citizens will be able to register as voters for the first time, transfer their voter registration from one electoral area to another, update or correct voter registration particulars, and verify their registration status.
For voters seeking to transfer their registration, the commission has directed that they present themselves at the IEBC Constituency Office in the electoral area where they wish to be registered.
Meanwhile, voters seeking to update or correct their registration details will be required to visit the constituency office where they are currently registered.
The exercise forms part of the commission’s mandate to maintain an accurate and up-to-date register of voters by ensuring eligible citizens have access to registration and voter information services.

IEBC To Continue with Continuous Voter Registration
IEBC clarified that the conclusion of the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration exercise will not mark the end of voter registration services.
According to the notice, Continuous Voter Registration and regular revision of the Register of Voters will continue at constituency offices across the affected electoral areas from Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, from 8 AM to 5 PM.
The commission further stated that voter registration services offered through Huduma Centers will continue beyond the ECVR period and will be suspended only upon a formal notice issued by the electoral body.
However, IEBC noted that Continuous Voter Registration and the revision of the voter register will not be undertaken in Ol Kalou Constituency during the ongoing by-election.
