The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced the closure of Links Road- Nyali in Mombasa County.
In a notice dated Tuesday, July 22, 2025, the authority stated that the road will be closed from Friday, August 1, 2025, to Friday, January 30, 2026.
“Kenya Urban Roads Authority seeks to inform the general public of a road closure along Links Road-Nyali in Mombasa County from 6:00 AM on Friday, 1 August 2025, to 6:00 PM on Friday, 30 January 2026 (6 months),” read part of the notice.
According to KURA, this closure will facilitate construction works aimed at providing a lasting solution to the frequent flooding and drainage challenges that usually affect this section of the road.

The Authority also advised motorists to exercise caution when approaching the affected area.
“Motorists are advised to exercise caution when approaching the affected section and to follow all road signs provided. Police officers and traffic marshals will be on site to ensure a smooth flow of traffic,” read the notice.
Motorists have been advised to avoid this section and use alternative routes as shown in the sketch provided in the notice.
KURA further apologized for any inconvenience caused after issuing the notice.

Elsewhere, KURA had announced a three-day traffic disruption along Jogoo Road and Nyasa Road in a notice dated Monday, July 14, 2025.
The disruption, which began at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18, and ended at 11:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21, was to facilitate culvert installation works.
Motorists were advised to exercise caution when approaching the affected sections and to observe all road signs provided.

Police officers and traffic marshals were also deployed to help manage traffic flow during the period.
Links Road in Nyali, Mombasa, is a key urban road in the coastal suburb known for its proximity to beaches, shopping centers, and residential areas. Links Road has long been notorious for flooding, especially near Quickmart Supermarket, where inadequate drainage systems cause rainwater to flood homes and businesses.
