The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced that it will extend its working days to Saturday, August 30, 2025, as the deadline for all National Government and County Government entities to apply for the new generation reflective number plates expires on Friday, August 29, 2025.
In a notice dated Friday, August 29, 2025, the Authority stated that it will extend its working days beyond the usual Monday to Friday schedule at its Nairobi office.
The Authority explained that the move is meant to facilitate the collection of reflective number plates by government entities.
“The NTSA Nairobi office will be open on Saturday, August 30, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm to facilitate the collection of reflective number plates by National and County Government entities,” the notice read in part.
NTSA Issues Directive Regarding Reflective Number Plates
To apply for reflective number plates, motorists must follow several steps through the NTSA service portal on the eCitizen platform. First, log in to your eCitizen account and select the NTSA service portal (New).
From there, select your motor vehicle and click ‘View’. Next, go to Motor Vehicle Services and select Reflective Plate. Choose the type of plate you need and the collection office.

You will also need to upload the relevant documents, combined into a single PDF file. Then, scroll down, tick the Declaration Box, and click on Preview. Once everything is confirmed, submit your application, proceed to make the payment for the reflective plate, and click ‘Complete’.
A notification confirming your application and payment will be sent to you via SMS. The charges are Ksh 1,550 for a single reflective number plate and Ksh 3,050 for a pair of number plates.
National and County Governments Directed to Apply for Reflective Number Plates
The processing time is approximately seven working days, after which you will be notified to pick up your plates.
On June 17, 2025, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) directed all national and county government ministries, departments, and agencies to apply for reflective number plates by Friday, August 29, 2025, in compliance with a directive from the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service.
“In implementation of the directive by the Chief of Staff and Head of The Public Service, all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies are required to log in to their accounts through http://serviceportal.ntsa. go.ke to make the application for reflective plates,” read the notice.

To facilitate the process, the Authority also enabled the creation of e-Agent accounts on the e-Citizen platform for institutions to facilitate bulk payments.
