Nine people have been injured in an accident involving the Olasiti Boarding Primary School bus at Kimwani along Nandi Hills-Kopere Road in Nandi County on Saturday morning, July 13.
Speaking to the media, Tinderet Deputy County Commissioner Esther Oyugi said the accident left three students and six teachers injured.
Oyugi stated that the bus lost control and landed in a ditch around the Coptic area with 42 pupils and six teachers on board, but no fatalities were reported.
“We have had six teachers and three pupils seriously injured in the accident which occurred in the Kimwani area. The bus from Olasiti Boarding Primary School had 42 pupils, six teachers, and the driver,” Oyugi said.

He explained that the bus was headed back to Narok County after participating in the Rift Valley Music Festivals held at the East Africa University of Baraton when the accident occurred.
Local residents rushed to the scene and helped pull the students, who were screaming for help, from the bus.
The injured were taken to Nandi Hills County Hospital for treatment.
“Those injured have been rushed to Nandi Hills County Hospital for management, but we have an update that four of them—a teacher and three pupils—have been referred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret,” Oyugi said.

Mwingi Accident
This incident follows another tragic accident on Friday, July 12, in Mwingi along the Nairobi-Garissa Highway, where twelve people were killed.
Reports indicate a Mandera-bound bus from Nairobi collided with a trailer, resulting in the deaths of the bus conductor, driver, and other passengers.
The bus belonged to Makkah Travels Company, and well-wishers rushed to the scene to rescue victims.
Survivors recounted that the bus driver was trying to overtake a vehicle, which sped off after the accident.
The bus veered off its lane and rammed into the side of a trailer transporting gypsum. They also mentioned that the trailer had stalled on the road due to a mechanical problem.

Car-Truck Collision
In another incident, five people died after a collision between a car and a truck along the Murang’a-Kenol Road on Thursday, July 11.
Police officers reported that the victims, including the driver, died on the spot after the truck hit the car, causing it to veer off the road.
