The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced that inter-institutional transfers for the 2025/2026 placement cycle will open on July 14.
In a notice to Vice Chancellors (VCs), KUCCPS CEO Agnes Wahome stated that the online inter-institution transfers for students placed during the 2025/2026 cycle will be open from 14 July 2025 to 24 August 2025.
This window will allow students to change their programmes and institutions through the online application system.
“As per the practice, KUCCPS provides an opportunity to students who may wish to change their programmes and institutions through the online application system following the laid down procedures within the set timelines,” Wahome said.
The inter-institution transfer process involves these steps:
1. The student initiates an online transfer application, which will be submitted to the receiving institution.
2. The receiving institution endorses the application through its portal and accepts the student online.
3. The releasing institution receives the application and releases the student online through their institutional portal.
4. The endorsed application is sent back to KUCCPS online for approval, and a transfer letter is generated.
5. The applicant downloads the approved transfer letter and presents it to the receiving institution for issuance of admission and joining instructions.
6. Both the releasing and receiving institutions will obtain a transfer report in their respective institutional portals.
During processing of Inter-Faculty/Programme transfers in degree programmes, institutions will be required to strictly adhere to individual programme cut-off points and minimum subject requirements as published by KUCCPS.

Inter-University Transfer Requirements
To be eligible for a university transfer, the student must first have been placed by KUCCPS in the programme they wish to transfer from.
Furthermore, the programme a student chooses must have been in offer in the 2024 placement exercise.
A student is only permitted to apply for one transfer to a different programme or course and is allowed only one transfer during the duration of their placement.
Applicants are advised to review available programmes and their requirements before requesting a transfer.
