Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has unveiled The Mwananchi Party (TMP)’s new political identity, featuring a motorcycle symbol, light blue and white colors, and the slogan “Tuinuke Pamoja”.
The unveiling of the TMP logo comes as discussions continue over the party’s political direction and its links to the Linda Mwananchi movement.
On his social media platform, Babu Owino confirmed that the party adopted the new logo on October 23.
In his statement, Babu said the motorcycle featured in the logo could take citizens anywhere.
He also praised boda boda riders, calling them powerful and praying that God would bless them.
“Nduthi nayo inakufikisha kila pahali .God bless Boda Boda riders. Watu wa nguvu sana,” Babu Owino stated.
TMP New Logo, Colors and Slogan
According to Former Internal Auditor at the Homa Bay County Assembly, Tabitha Nyandiek Achieng, the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties approved TMP symbols and colors.
Following the approval, the TMP will use the motorcycle symbol commonly known as a boda boda as its new identity.
Additionally, Babu Owino’s party colors have been officially approved as light blue and white, with the party slogan ‘Tuinuke Pamoja’.
“Official: The Mwananchi Party (TMP) has today had its symbol and color approved by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties. Hii ni chama ya Mwananchi. Pandeni Bodaboda Twendeni Tuinuke Pamoja,” Tabitha Confirmed.

From Muungano Party to The Mwananchi Party
The Mwananchi Party (TMP) emerged following the rebranding of the previously registered Muungano Party.
Following the change, the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) confirmed that the name change took effect on September 10, 2026.
According to the Registrar’s records, the Registrar published the proposed change in Gazette Notice No. 13935 on August 28.
An objection filed by Lawrence Nzunga on August 30 was later withdrawn on September 8, paving the way for the change to take effect.
In a public clarification reported on September 24, Owino said principals associated with Linda Mwananchi had visited the ORPP on August 4 to seek clarification about the availability of the Linda Mwananchi name and its registration process.
Owino maintained that TMP’s registration and name-change process was already underway before the debate surrounding Linda Mwananchi intensified.
On October 2, the Registrar approved the reservation of the Linda Mwananchi Movement name after the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal ruled.
Supporters Embrace TMP’s New Identity
Several members of the public have welcomed TMP’s new identity, noting that Babu’s Party is the only party that Kenyans know.
Others compared the new logo to boda boda riders’ responsibility for passengers and the trust people place in leaders.
Further, some affirmed their support for Babu, saying that even if the logo were a cow or chimpanzee, they would remain loyal to the party.
Chris B. Odhiambo urged supporters to strengthen the party, saying: “We embrace our party. It’s incumbent upon us to build the party.”
However, the unveiling also sparked questions about TMP’s distinction from other parties as members of the public sought to understand the difference between People’s Party and The Mwananchi Party.
