Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has affirmed his intentions to run for the presidency in 2027.
Speaking in an interview with NTV, Kalonzo said he will not support former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for the fourth time.
According to him, giving up his presidential ambitions in support of Raila would signal his retirement from politics.
“Giving up my presidential ambition will actually mean I go home. It is as simple as that,” said Kalonzo.
Additionally, the former Vice President said the time was right for Kenyans to recognize the leader they have always wanted.
Ruto Endorsed Me-Kalonzo
He stated that the country was already gearing up for his candidature in the next election including President William Ruto.
“Infact the country seems to be speaking almost in unison. President William Ruto himself announced my candidature in Homabay. Do you remember, is Ruto a mad man? So even Ruto may end up giving me the vote he announced,” explained Kalonzo.
In addition, the Wiper Leader said he is ready for the next elections just like he was during the 2002 and 2013 elections.

However, he said he will make the announcement at the appropriate time to give Kenyans the opportunity to weigh the alternative.
“It will shock you to learn that I was ready to be president in 2002 when we said Kibaki Tosha. It was that after Kibaki I would run. I was ready in 2013 to move from being Vice president to president of the republic. If I was ready in 2002 and 2013, what makes you think I won’t be ready in 2027?” said Kalonzo.
Consultations & Campaigns
Regarding his preparations ahead of 2027, the Wiper leader said he will do further consultations on his presidential bid.
Also, he hinted at starting early preparations in 2024 ahead of the 2027 elections.
“I am going to move all over the country in 2024. I have actually said publicly said publicly that the next contest, if it will be in 2027 must be won in 2024.
So, 2024 is a watershed year for democracy in this country and it is going to be total approach to that democratic issue. So, you should be prepared for that action.” he said.

Why I supported Raila
Kalonzo said he has been a team player and sacrificed a lot in his political career.
“In 2007 I was accused of not playing the team that’s why in 2022 I agreed to support Raila Odinga and Martha Karua,” he said.
Kenya Kwanza Government
He also accused the Kenya Kwanza government of being a puppet of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
“They are just following the script of IMF; they are told you don’t do this we don’t give you money. So it is an IMF led government,” he said.
According to Kalonzo, the government should stand firm against foreign powers who come with different interests.
