Rangwe Member of Parliament (MP) Lilian Gogo on Sunday, June 16 confronted Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua over his calls to unite the Mount Kenya region.
Speaking during a church event at the Nakuru Athletic Club, Gogo told Gachagua, who was the chief guest, to stop uniting his local backyard at the expense of other regions.
Gogo explained that all leaders are focused on uniting Kenyans, stating that justice should be the defender in the process.
“With due respect, Your Excellency the Deputy President, we served together in the 12th Parliament, and I appreciate your efforts for Mt. Kenya. But I want to say this when the sun is up, don’t unite Mt. Kenya at the expense of other tribes in Kenya,” Gogo said.

She emphasized that the country should dwell in peace, unity, and liberty but this shouldn’t be at the expense of excluding other Kenyans.
Additionally, she urged Gachagua and his allies to avoid badmouthing the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
“I want to beseech you, after uniting Mt. Kenya, come to Kisumu, Migori, and the greater regions and do the same because we are all in the business of uniting Kenyans,” she stated.

Lilian Gogo on the Church & Finance Bill
The MP explained that the Church is critical in the governance and activities of the country.
“The Church has actually worked so hard to mitigate matters of constitutionalism to the extent that it has taken care of the excesses of the state,” Gogo explained.
Gogo emphasized that she is a member of the ODM party after being re-elected in Rangwe Constituency during the 2022 general elections.
As a member of Azimio, Gogo vowed to vote against the Finance Bill 2024 when it will be presented for debate in the National Assembly.
“Regarding the Finance Bill, given that I am in the minority coalition of Azimio, I am going to vote no, so help me God,” she said.
Additionally, she accused elected leaders of being greedy and engaging in corruption to fund their lavish lifestyles.

Gachagua Vows to Continue with Mt. Kenya Unity Calls
The MPs sentiments come at a time when Gachagua has reaffirmed his commitment to unite the Mt. Kenya region against all odds.
The DP dismissed claims that he was advocating for tribal politics, stating that unity for the mountain will ensure the region gets more resources nationally.
“We have elected Ruto knowing that he is not a Kikuyu. We don’t want people telling us that we are tribal. We are patriots because of electing Ruto,” he said.
