Siaya Governor James Orengo has called on Members of Parliament to heed public outcry on the issue of the Finance Bill 2023.
The Governor noted that Kenyans currently have the burden of inflation, thence approving President Ruto-led administration’s tax increase proposals will overburden the taxpayers.
While speaking in Gem constituency, Orengo implored the lawmakers not to betray the public during the bill’s debate scheduled for next week.
“Kenyans who donated power to the MPS are pressed up with the many taxations and they are waiting to see if those they entrusted with positions abandon them during the hour of need,” he said.
Moreover, the Siaya Governor cautioned MPs against being deceived with propaganda from the Kenya Kwanza administration as it will plummet the Country into more problems.
He further added that the legislators must listen so that there is an amendment Bill.
“Let our brothers from the National Assembly debate and decide as per the plea of the public. When we have amendments then it will be possible to support economic growth,” said Orengo.
