Elizabeth Karambu Kailemia is a Kenyan politician and the elected Meru County Woman Representative in the National Assembly under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Educational Background
Elizabeth Karambu’s academic journey began at Limuru Girls High School, where she completed her O-Levels between 1971 and 1974.
She then attended Highland High School in 1975, earning her A-Level qualification in 1976, before pursuing a diploma in Secretarial Duties at Kianda College between 1979 and 1980.
She expanded her expertise into community development by obtaining a Higher Diploma from Premese Africa Development Institute in 2015, followed by enrolling in a Bachelor of Arts in Community Development at African Nazarene University, which she began in 2015 and continues to pursue.
Career
Elizabeth Karambu began her career by serving in administrative support roles, including Field Supervisor at Foster Parents Plan International from 1983 to 1986, Executive Secretary at the Diocese of Mt. Kenya South (1981–1983), and Secretary to the Company Secretary at East African Power & Lighting Company (1980–1981).
She transitioned in 1986 to become the Executive Secretary and Shipping Assistant at Dormans Limited, a role she held on till 1993.
In 1993, she moved to the American Life Insurer Company (ALICO), holding various roles, including Personal Assistant to the Managing Director, Life Agent (1999–2001), and Unit Manager (2001–2005).
She later held the position of Principal Officer at Stanridge Insurance Agency from 2005 till she left in 2009.
From 2009 until her entry into politics in 2022, Karambu served simultaneously as General Manager at Madawa Pharmaceuticals Limited and as Director at Ace Pharmaceuticals Limited.
