The Kenyan government, through the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA), has published a list of four additional SACCOs that obtained operational licenses in 2025.
According to a notice published on November 25, Kumbukumbu SACCO Society was issued a Sacco deposit-taking license to undertake deposit-taking Sacco business in Kenya, with effect from August 11, 2025, and may be renewed upon application, subject to compliance with the prescribed minimum prudential standards.
Three other SACCOs got licensed in accordance with article 6(2) of the Sacco Societies of Non-Deposit-Taking Sacco Business Regulations of 2020 and were issued authorizations to undertake specified non-deposit-taking Sacco business in Kenya.
ACK Imani Talent Regulated Non-WOT SACCO Society Ltd, which is located in Nakuru, was licensed as a non-deposit-taking SACCO effective from May 7, 2025.
At the same time, Kenfam Regulated Non-WOT SACCO Society Ltd, also based in Nakuru, was given the authority to operate the business effective May 7, 2025.

SASRA stated that all licenses are to be renewed upon application and must comply with the prescribed minimum prudential standards.
In the notice, SASRA reminded the public and stakeholders that any person found conducting a deposit-taking or specified non-deposit-taking Sacco business with any Sacco Society or entity that has not been duly licensed or authorized risks facing action.
Additionally, the Sacco regulator warned that any member of the public who decides to transact continuously with a Sacco Society that does not have a valid operational license will do so at their own risk.
What’s more, the authority reminded the public that every licensed or authorized Sacco Society is required by law to display the original license or authorization certificate in a conspicuous place at its registered Head Offices, and a copy of the license or authorization certificate at all other licensed or authorized branches and places of business.

Public and private sector companies, institutions, and entities should also refrain from facilitating unlicensed and unauthorized entities purporting to be Sacco Societies to undertake illegal regulated SACCO businesses through deductions and remittances, and should also cease providing electronic and digital channels and conduits for such illegal activities.
In addition, regulated SACCO Societies are strictly prohibited from placing or investing members’ funds in the deposits of equities of any unregulated entity, and any such existing placement investments should be recalled forthwith.
