Kenyans in several parts of the country should expect rainfall over the next five days, while Nairobi and parts of the Central and Eastern regions are expected to experience intermittent cool and cloudy conditions, according to the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD).
In its five-day weather forecast valid from Saturday, August 15, to Wednesday, August 19, Kenya Met said rainfall is expected in a few counties, with light to moderate showers forecast at different times of the day.
Nairobi will experience sunny intervals on Saturday before cloudy-to-sunny conditions dominate the mornings from Sunday through Wednesday.
Afternoons in the Capital are expected to remain sunny, while nights will be partly cloudy throughout the five-day period.
Daytime temperatures in Nairobi will range from 24°C to 28°C, while minimum temperatures will drop to 9°C on Sunday.
Kenya Met Forecasts Cool conditions in Central and Eastern Kenya
Several counties, including Kiambu, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Machakos, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, and Meru, are expected to experience cool, cloudy conditions at various times during the forecast period.
Nyandarua is expected to record some of the lowest temperatures, with minimum temperatures dropping to 8°C. Light showers are forecast in the afternoons throughout the five days.
Nyeri will also experience light showers, particularly over the weekend and early next week, with temperatures ranging from 9°C to 23°C.
In Kiambu, cloudy-to-sunny conditions are expected in the mornings from Sunday, while light showers are forecast for Sunday afternoon. Temperatures could fall to 11°C during the period.
Machakos is expected to experience cloudy-to-sunny mornings for most of the forecast period, with temperatures dropping to as low as 9°C and daytime highs ranging from 23°C to 27°C.
Embu and Tharaka-Nithi could also receive light rains, mainly during the morning and night hours on selected days.

Rain Expected in Parts of the Rift Valley and Western Kenya
Light showers are forecast in several counties in the Rift Valley and western Kenya.
Nakuru is expected to receive moderate showers on Monday afternoon, while Nyandarua, West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu and Elgeyo/Marakwet will experience light showers at different times.
Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega and Vihiga are also likely to receive afternoon showers, particularly from Sunday through Wednesday.
Narok may experience light showers during the afternoon on Sunday and Monday, with more rain expected on Wednesday.
In the Lake Victoria basin, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, and Kisii are expected to experience light showers, mainly in the afternoons, from Monday onwards.
Hot Conditions to Continue in Northern Kenya
Much of northern and northeastern Kenya will remain generally sunny and warm.
Mandera is expected to record the highest temperatures during the five-day period, reaching 37°C on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Garissa and Wajir could also experience temperatures up to 35°C, although light rain is forecast in both counties on Monday. Wajir may receive additional light rain on Wednesday.
Turkana will remain hot, with maximum temperatures ranging between 35°C and 37°C. However, light rains and showers are forecast on Sunday.
Marsabit and parts of the highland areas will remain considerably cooler, with minimum temperatures in Marsabit expected to fall to around 15°C.

Coastal Counties to Experience Occasional Showers
Along the Coast, Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi and Lamu are expected to receive occasional light showers, mainly in the mornings.
Mombasa will experience maximum temperatures of between 29°C and 30°C, while minimum temperatures could fall to 20°C on Tuesday.
Taita/Taveta and Tana River are expected to remain largely sunny, although Tana River could receive light showers on Wednesday.
