The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a five-day weather forecast for the period between Saturday, August 30, and Wednesday, September 3, 2025, covering Nairobi and other regions.
In its forecast released on Friday, 29 August, the Kenya Meteorological Department announced that rainfall is expected to continue in the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, as well as in the North and Central Rift Valley.
At the same time, the meteorological department warned of continued occasional cold and cloudy conditions over several parts of the country.
Kenya Warns of Cold and Strong Winds in Five-Day Weather Forecast
Highlands east of the Rift Valley, including counties such as Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, and Nairobi, will experience cloudy mornings with sunny intervals, and there is a chance of afternoon showers in some areas.
Nights will generally be partly cloudy, with maximum temperatures ranging from 27°C to 28°C and lows between 5°C and 9°C.
Additionally, the meteorological department announced that strong southerly to south-easterly winds with speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.86 m/s) are expected over the Coast (and Kenya’s territorial waters), the South-eastern lowlands, North-eastern and North-western Kenya.

In the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, including counties such as Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, and Nakuru, residents can expect a chance of morning rains in some areas, with afternoon showers and thunderstorms in several locations.
Night showers are also likely in scattered locations. Maximum temperatures in the region are expected to range between 27°C and 29°C, while minimum temperatures are forecasted to fluctuate between 8°C and 11°C.
Forecasts Sunny Intervals, Occasional Showers Across Select Regions
North-western counties, including Turkana and Samburu, will experience sunny intervals in the morning with occasional showers in the afternoon.
Nighttime conditions will be partly cloudy, with a chance of light showers. The region will experience high daytime temperatures of around 35°C, accompanied by cooler nights, ranging from 7°C to 11°C.
In the north-eastern region, including Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo, sunny intervals are expected throughout the day with partly cloudy nights. Temperatures will remain high, ranging from 35°C to 36°C during the day and 14°C to 16°C at night.

The south-eastern lowlands, including Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, and inland parts of Tana River County, will enjoy sunny intervals both in the morning and afternoon, with partly cloudy nights.
Daytime temperatures will range from 31°C to 32°C, while nighttime lows will be between 10°C and 14°C.
Coastal counties, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale, as well as coastal areas of Tana River County, will experience showers over a few places on Saturday and Sunday, with sunny intervals expected later in the week.
Maximum temperatures along the coast will remain steady at 31°C, and minimum temperatures between 21°C and 22°C.
