IEBC Appoints 290 Voter Registration Officers

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has appointed 290 voter registration officers following the announcement of the resumption of the continuous voter registration exercise, which will commence on Monday, 29 September 2025, nationwide.

In a gazette notice dated August 28, the electoral body also appointed 290 assistant voter registration officers.

“The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission appoints the persons named in the fifth columns of the First and Schedules herein to be the Registration Officers and Assistant Registration Officers, for the Constituencies named in the fourth columns of the First and Second Schedules. The appointments are for the purposes of continuous registration of citizens as voters and the regular revision of the voters’ roll,” read the notice in part.

IEBC Appoints 290 Voter Registration Officers

The Commission stated on Thursday that the voter registration exercise will target Kenyans who have attained the age of 18, as well as those who have not previously registered as voters.

Eligible Kenyan citizens may also visit any of the 290 Commission Constituency Offices nationwide to transfer their registration details to a different polling station, correct or update their voter particulars, or inspect their registration status.

All eligible Kenyan citizens who have attained the age of eighteen (18) years and are in possession of a valid national identity card or a valid Kenyan passport are eligible to register as voters.

There shall be no continuous registration of citizens as voters or revision of the voters’ roll in electoral areas where by-elections are scheduled.

Registration of voters and revision of the voters’ roll will be conducted from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).

The Commission stated that it will issue a notice to announce the commencement of voter registration and the revision of the voters’ roll for citizens residing outside the country and for prisoners.

Voter registration will take place at all Constituency IEBC offices and designated County Assembly Wards. Mobile registration teams will also be deployed to reach remote and marginalised areas to ensure inclusivity.

Eligible voters will be required to fill out any of the following registrations: Form A for new voter registration, Form B for change of particulars, Form C for transfer to another electoral area, Form D for claims or objections, and Form E for appeal against the registration officer’s decision.

Voter Registration Exercise

a) New Registration

Kenyans seeking to register as voters will be required to visit a designated registration centre with their valid Kenyan ID or Passport, complete the statutory form, and provide personal and biometric data (fingerprints and photo). Once registered, an acknowledgement slip will be issued.
(Note: The acknowledgement slip is not required as an identification document during voting. You must present your valid Kenyan ID or Passport on Election Day.)

b) Transfer of Registration

To transfer registration from one polling station to another, registered voters must visit the IEBC Constituency Office where they wish to transfer their registration. Additionally, one will be required to complete Form C, followed by validation through biometric identification.

c) Inspection of Registration Details/Status

To inspect voter registration details/status, visit the IEBC portal: https://verify.iebc.or.ke, and/or visit any Constituency Office with your registration document.

d) Change of Particulars

To change particulars, visit the Constituency Office where you are registered, fill in the relevant application form, and the Registration Officer will update your information.
