The Standard Group Woes
Ashley Mazuri’s exit comes amid the ever-deepening crisis that has dogged the Mombasa Road-based media giant for years.
Listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange, the Standard Group has been in the red for a long time and has struggled to remain afloat.
The management has employed several measures, including voluntary exits, mass redundancies, and the closure of some stations.
In June 2024, the Standard Group management shut down KTN News as a cost-cutting measure. Other channels that have since gone under include Farmers TV and Burudani TV. Its popular platforms are KTN, The Standard Newspaper, and Radio Maisha.
