Meru County has a total of 772,139 registered voters according to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The county, located in the eastern region of Kenya, has nine constituencies.
South Imenti leads the county in voter registration, with 115,642 voters. It is followed closely by North Imenti, which has 96,241 registered voters.
Igembe Central also reported high voter numbers, with 93,434 individuals on the roll, while Buuri has 82,341 registered voters. Tigania East is slightly ahead of Central Imenti with 83,527 voters.
Other constituencies include Igembe South with 77,126 voters, Igembe North with 77,050, and Central Imenti with 76,495 registered voters. Tigania West rounds out the list with 70,283 voters.

MPs per Constituency
Each of these constituencies elects one Member of Parliament (MP) to represent them in the National Assembly, totalling nine MPs for the county.

MPs representing constituencies in Meru County are as follows: In Igembe South, the MP is John Paul Mwirigi, who gained national attention for his independent run and youthful energy.
Igembe Central is represented by Moses Kirima, while Igembe North is served by Abdul Rahim Dawood, who secured a third term in the 2022 elections.
In Tigania West, the MP is Kigo Njiru, and in Tigania East is represented by Gichunge Kabeabea.
North Imenti is served by Rahim Dawood, who represents the constituency under the Alliance Party of Kenya (APK). Buuri is represented by Mugambi Ridikiri Murwithania of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
In Central Imenti, the MP is Kabando wa Kabando, and South Imenti is represented by Melvin Mutembei.
The constituencies are further divided into 45 county assembly wards, with each ward electing one representative to the Meru County Assembly.

Meru County, covering an area of 6,936 square kilometres, is bordered by five counties: Isiolo to the north, Nyeri and Tharaka Nithi to the southwest, and Laikipia to the west.
The county is inhabited by the Ameru community, which includes the Imenti, Tigania, and Igembe sub-tribes.
Meru Town serves as the administrative and commercial hub, while towns like Maua are known for the miraa trade and proximity to Meru National Park.
The county’s governance has seen changes, with Governor Kawira Mwangaza being impeached in 2024 and her deputy, Isaac Mutuma M’Ethingia, subsequently sworn in as the fourth governor.
