President William Ruto and a host of Cabinet Secretaries have made new state appointments in the latest round of government postings to various parastatals.
In a gazette notice dated Friday, September 5, 2025, the Head of State appointed Dr. Samier Muravvej as the Chairperson of the Kenya Fisheries Service for a three-year term, effective September 5, 2025.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 11 (1) (a) of the Fisheries Management and Development Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint— Dr. Samier Muravvej to be the non-executive Chairperson of the Kenya Fisheries Service, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 5th September, 2025. Dated the 5th September, 2025,” the statement read.

At the same time, the Head of State revoked the appointment of Dr. Muravvej as the non-executive Chairperson of the Board of the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC), effective September 5, 2025.
Dr. Muravvej is a dental surgeon, entrepreneur, and public health leader with over two decades of experience in healthcare, technology, and real estate. He previously served as Chairperson of the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) Board, a position he was appointed to in February 2023 before being replaced by Abbas Gullet.

In July 2025, President Ruto appointed him as Chairperson of the NSDCC Board, a position that has now been revoked.
Several Cabinet Secretaries also announced new appointments in the gazette notice.
Duale and Other CSs Make Several State Appointments
Sports CS Salim Mvurya revoked the appointment of Billy Komintai Konchellah as a member of the Board of the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya, which had taken effect on August 29, 2025.
However, Gender, Culture, and Children Services CS Hanna Wendot Cheptumo appointed Konchellah as a member of the National Heroes Council for a three-year term, effective September 5, 2025.
Defence CS Aden Duale appointed Boniface Yego to the Board of Directors of the Kenya National Public Health Institute for three years, effective September 5, 2025.

Education CS Julius Ogamba also announced several changes to university councils. He appointed Rosebella Namango to the Kenyatta University Council, revoking the appointments of Alice Waruguru Muita and Ibrahim Abdi Mude.
Muita was reassigned to the Dedan Kimathi University of Technology Council, while Mude was moved to the Machakos University Council, replacing Esther Ngiya-Murimi.
Amos Okello was appointed to the Bomet University College Council, revoking his earlier posting to Egerton University.
Similarly, Razoah Vitisia was reassigned to Tom Mboya University Council after her appointment to the University of Eldoret was revoked. Nashon Edward Oluoch Nyona was re-appointed to the Taita Taveta University Council, while Issa Mohamed Ahmed joined the Tharaka University Council.
