The President of Tanzania Samia Suluhu has fired her Foreign Affairs Minister and the Minister for Information, communication and Information Technology.
According to a press statement issued by Sharifa Nyanga, the acting director of presidential communications, the President has fired ICT CS Nape Nnauye.
Additionally, January Makamba, who held the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, have been fired.
Jerry Silaa, the former Minister of Lands, Housing, and Human Settlements Development, will now oversee the ICT docket.
At the same time, the Ambassador to Italy Mahmoud Thabit has been appointment an MP and will assume the Minister of Foreign Affairs position.

“Hon. Jerry William Silaa (Mb.) has been appointed as the Minister of Information, Communication and Information Technology. Before this appointment Hon. Silaa was the Minister of Land, Housing and Housing Development, he takes the place of Hon. Nape Moses Nnauye (Mr.) whose appointment has been revoked;
“Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo has been appointed Member of Parliament and Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation. Before this appointment, Ambassador Kombo was the Ambassador of Tanzania in Italy, he takes the place of Hon. January Yusuf Makamba (Mr.) whose appointment has been revoked,” the statement from Samia Suluhu’s office read in part.

ICT Minister and January Spark Uproar After Controversial Remarks
President Samia Suluhu fired January Makamba and Nape Nnauye after a video surfaced showing them joking about election malpractices in the country on July 15.
The comments made while they were speaking to traders at the Kashai Market in Bukoba, caused uproar among Tanzanians who called for their resignation.
However, Nnauye came out to issue a public apology, saying that he did not intend to cause any harm to the citizens of Tanzania.
“I apologize for the remark I made, which has offended some citizens. It was not my intention to cause any harm or provoke negative discussions. The joke was not intended maliciously, but I recognize that in my position as a leader, I must be more cautious with my words,” he said.
Other Changes Made by Samia Suluhu
Deogratius John Ndejembi has been appointed Minister of Lands, Housing and Housing Development, Ridhiwani Jakaya Kikwete has been appointed Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office (Work, Youth, Employment and the Disabled) while Cosato David Chumi has been appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation.
At the same time, Deus Clement Sangu has been appointed Deputy Minister, Office of the President, Public Service Management and Good Governance, Dennis Lazaro Londo has been appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation East African issues. Hon. Londo, Eliakim Chacha Maswi has been appointed Secretary General of the Ministry of Constitution and Law and Mary Gaspar Makondo has been appointed as Ruvuma Regional Administrative Secretary.

Additionally, Kiseo Yusuph Nzowa has been appointed as the Administrative Secretary of the Kilimanjaro Region, Musa Haji Ali has been appointed Ambassador, Louis Peter Bura has been appointed as the Chief of Chato District.
Kemirembe Rose Lwota has been transferred from Manyoni District to become Serengeti District Head while Vincent Biyegela Mashinji has been transferred from the Serengeti District to become the District Head of Manyoni.
“Maulid Suleiman Madeni has been appointed as the Executive Director of Serengeti District Council, Afraha Nassoro Hassan has been transferred from the Council Serengeti District to be the Executive Director of Nkasi District Council.
“Hassan takes the place of Mr. William Anyitike Mwakalambile whose appointment has been revoked; and Dennis Kwame Simba has been appointed as the Director General of Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA),” the statement added.
