The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has published an updated list of all licensed aviation companies in Kenya as of May 2025.
In a gazette notice dated May 27, 2025, KCAA, published the list while announcing its decisions on applications for air service licenses by the companies.
“Pursuant to the provisions of the Civil Aviation Act, 2013 as read together with Civil Aviation (Amendment Act, 2016 and the Civil Aviation (Licensing of Air Services) Regulations, 2018 (Regulation 28), notice is given that the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority has made decisions on applications for air service licenses whose particulars were previously published in the Kenya Gazette Notices No. 16415 of 2024 and No. 3545 of 2025,” the notice reads in part.
According to KCAA, national carrier Kenya Airways is currently operating on a 3-year license, which took effect on March 22, 2025.
The KQ license entails services for international scheduled air service for passengers, cargo and mail on routes as per designation by the Ministry of Roads and Transport, domestic non-scheduled air service for passengers’ cargo and mail within Kenya, and international non-scheduled air service for passengers, cargo and mail to/from the rest of the world.
The license also entails services for domestic scheduled air service for passengers, cargo and mail on 16 routes.
All the above services include the use of aircraft types B777, B787, B737 and E190 based at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Moi (Mombasa), Kisumu and Eldoret International airports.

KCAA list of licensed aviation companies
On its part, the Kenya Aeronautical College Flying School Limited has a 3-year license which took effect from 17th December 2024, allowing the College to operate flying Instructions within Kenya using aircraft type C150, C172 and PA34 based at Wilson and Malindi Airports.
Jambojet, on the other hand, has a 3-year license which took effect on April 12, 2025, for international scheduled air service for passengers, cargo and mail on 32 routes.
KCAA also granted Jambojet a 1-year license with effect from April 12, 2025, for international non-scheduled air service for passengers, cargo and mail to/from points in Africa/rest of the world.
All licenses involve the use of aircraft type DH8D based at the Jomo Kenyatta and Moi International Airports.
Kenya School of Flying on its part is operating on a license granted for three years with effect from March 22, 2025, allowing the school to carry out flying instructions within Kenya using aircraft type C152, C172, C150 and PA34 based at Wilson Airport, Orly Airpark and Malindi Airport.
Martinair Holland NV has a license for two years with effect from December 2, 2024, without traffic rights to/from Entebbe/Kigali/Khartoum/Harare/Dar es Salaam/Johannesburg/Cairo/Lusaka/ Cape Town/Mauritius/ReUnion.
Martinair Holland NV had applied for international nonscheduled air service for cargo and mail on the route using aircraft type B747 based at Schiphol Amsterdam, The Netherlands, but without traffic rights.
HiSky Europe S.R.L SOS of Romania has a license granted for two years with effect from January 30, 2025, without traffic rights between Zanzibar and Mombasa.
1- year license
Companies that have been granted a license for one year with effect from May 6, 2025, include Pro Flight Limited (Kenya), Level Up Limited (Kenya), Fly Zanzibar Ltd of Tanzania, Fly North Air Express Limited (Kenya) Challenge Airlines (IL) Limited of Israel, Alpha Cargo Line Limited (Kenya), Challenge Airlines of Belgium, and Challenge Air Cargo Limited of Malta.
Others include Saacid Airlines (Kenya) Limited, Rift Valley Aviation Services Limited (Kenya), Ishara Air Balloon Safaris Limited (Kenya), Smartwings Poland SP. Z.O.O, Daallo Airlines (K) Limited, and Smartwings, A.S. (Czech Republic).
Poriny Air Service Limited, Splendair Aviation Limited, Ribway Cargo Airlines Limited, Nexen Air Limited, Fajr Airlines Limited, Bush Air Safaris Limited, Kilimanjaro Aviation Services Limited, Valcon Air Solutions Limited, West Rift Air Services Ltd, and Aeronav Limited (All Kenya) are also in this list.
On the other hand, companies whose variation of license granted for the period of validity of the existing license include, Jetways Airlines Limited, Capital Connect Aviation Supplies, Scenic Air Safaris Limited, Prime Aviation Limited, Airvan Kenya Limited, Renegade Air Limited (All Kenya) and Auric Air Services Limited (Tanzania).
Others include Dragonfly Aviation Limited, ALS Limited, Twinstar Aviation Limited, and Mara Wildlife Balloons Safaris Limited (All Kenya).
