National assembly Majority Leader Amos Kimunya has claimed that Azimio-One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga does not need President Uhuru Kenyatta to help him sell his candidature in the Mount Kenya region
“Raila is already popular in the Mount Kenya region, it might not be 100% but in the next two months things will change,” said Kimunya
He spoke in Kiambu on Tuesday during a meeting that brought together Azimio-One Kenya party candidates from the county. Raila Odinga presided over the meeting
Kimunya said that President Kenyatta should be left to focus on what needs to be done from Statehouse because Raila has enough foot soldiers that can help sell his agenda in the region.
At the same time, Kimunya downplayed the popularity of Deputy President William Ruto’s UDA party in the Mount Kenya region.
“The low turnout during the nominations of some parties is testament that they are not popular as they thought,” said Kimunya.
He noted that Azimio-One Kenya was working towards securing majority of seats in parliament and across the counties.
“Our target is to have majority Members of parliament, Governors, and members of county assemblies”
