United Democratic Alliance(UDA) party presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua is likely to attend the Deputy presidential debate set for today.
On Monday, Gachagua toured the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, the venue of the event.
During the brief visit, he was briefed on the preparedness of the much-awaited debate plus the rules to be applied.
The deputy presidential debate will kick off at 5:00pm .
Organizers have paired the candidates into two groups.
Roots party running mate candidate Justina Wamae will face off Ruth Wambui Mucheru of Agano party in the first part.
They will then pave way for UDA’s candidate against Azimio’s Martha karua.
Initially UDA had indicated that its candidates would not feature in the presidential debates.
The party had accused the media of being biased against their candidate.
KTN’s Zubeida Koome and Citizen TV’s Francis Gachuri will moderate the first debate.
The second debate will be moderated by Sophia Wanuna of KTN News and James Smart of NTV.
Trevor Ombija of Citizen TV will moderate panel discussions during both debates.
The presidential debates secretariat say that the debate will be based on principles of fairness, integrity, independence, and accountability.
The presidential debate secretariat is a joint organ of the media owners association, the media council of Kenya and the Kenya Editors guild.
