Three suspected robbers were on Tuesday night killed by detectives while planning a robbery along Mombasa Road.
The three were among a gang of six who wanted to stage a robbery within Alfa Centre along Mombasa road.
According to the DCI, the gang of six were attempting to commit robbery at the same location for the second time.
The suspected robbers were spotted by the detectives and challenged to surrender but they declined.
Consequently police opened fire on them.
“They shot at the officers and a shootout ensued. Three of them were fatally shot while the other three managed to escape,” said DCI.
Among items recovered from the suspects were two pistols a HP Laptop, a hammer, a Somali sword and six mobile phones.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to the city mortuary.
Police are pursuing the remaining suspects
Elsewhere, police in TransNzoia, are looking for a suspect behind the murder of a police reservist.
The body of Evans Baraza was found dumped in a sugar plantation.
Khakalunga Kimaibendi is suspected to have lured Baraza to his death.
Baraza had been deployed to the farm on patrol duties alongside his colleague Patrick Wekesa from Kitale police station.
The suspect also took away with deceased’s gun, a G3.
