Roots Party presidential candidate George Wajackoyah insists that he will boycott the presidential debate unless he shares the stage with all the presidential candidates.
A statement by Roots party’s spokesperson Wilson Muirani read:
“Our Presidential Candidate Prof Wajackoyah will not attend the debate because we will not subject the incoming president to the joke of an already predetermined debate”.
Moreover, the Roots party leader on had Sunday threatened to boycott the debate it if his demands are not met.
Likewise, Wajackoyah complained in his protest demand letter, that the debate organizers had discriminated him.
“The media cannot decide the outcome of an election before the poll day. The notion that some candidates are trailing others, or some leading others is baseless. We refuse to be counted as others in this important democratic duty of seeking the presidency,” Muirani said.
In that sense, Wajackoyah demanded to be paired with Raila Odinga and William Ruto for him to attend.
“We sent an official letter to the presidential debate team, and we are yet to receive official communication on how the concerns we raised were addressed,” Muirani stated.
Nonetheless, Azimio La Umoja One Kenya presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga also dropped out of the presidential debate.
The Azimio leader was set to face DP Ruto in the second tire of the debate.
While in tier one Roots party leader George Wajackoyah was scheduled to face Agano Party’s presidential candidate Waihiga Mwaure.
Moreover, organizers of the debate explained that, Wajackoyah and Mwaure were paired after they polled less than 5 percent in the three recent opinion polls.
However, Wajackoya faulted the pollsters saying that his approval rating among the electorate is much higher.
Meanwhile, if Wajackoyah fails to attend the debate, Mwaure will have the entire 90 minutes to sell his agenda.

Similarly, the two candidates have in the past been involved in a war of words. This is after Mwaure described the Wajackoyah’s agenda as “demonic”.
