Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said he is always making headlines because he is doing his job right.
While speaking to young Kenyans who emerged victorious during the Forty Under 40 Africa Awards on Tuesday, April 4 evening, DP Gachagua said his critics keep talking about him because he gets things moving.
He further added that he is not bothered about the constant backlash as he is focused on delivering his mandate.
While commenting about his recent 40-second speech during the Social Protection Conference that stirred mixed reactions online, the deputy president stated that the fact that the short speech even became a focal point for conversation was because his remarks are usually impactful.
As such, he added that when he does not say anything, it becomes a crisis and throws people into a state of confusion.
Therefore, DP Gachagua called on the award-winning youth to apply the same principle in their daily work.

He advised them to avoid responding to critics but instead just continue creating impact through their businesses.
“I’m always in the media, every day, because I get things moving. If I was not doing anything nobody would talk about me, nobody would even notice I’m around. Today I’ve gone to a function with the President and said I will say nothing today, it is everywhere; which means I am somebody in this country, and people wait for me to say something, and the fact that I’ve said nothing is news,” he said.
According to the deputy president, the more barbs thrown in one’s direction only means they are on the right track.
“There are many people here nobody even knows they’re around. But when you’re making progress, impacting people in whatever form, you draw a lot of attention, praises, and criticism. The more criticism, the better you’re doing.” He added.
