Multi-Agency officers raided Al Shabaab hideouts in Garissa and recovered foodstuffs including sacks of sugar, jerricans of water and bales of maize flour.
In a statement seen by The Kenya Times on Tuesday October 10, the Counter Terrorism unit noted that the officers stormed the Al-Shabab logistical base.
“Multi-Agency Security team raided Al-Shabab logistical base in Amuma in Garissa County and recovered foodstuffs like maize flour, sugar and water,” the statement read.
Notably, the gangs were reportedly dispatched from Somalia to attack security forces in the region with IEDs on the route in Garissa County.

Al Shabaab Militants Deaths
Notably, the events took place days after two Al-Shabaab militants died at the same place on October 3.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said that the Al-Shabaab militants were planting the IED before it exploded and killed the two instantly.
“A group of Al-Shabaab militants that was planting an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) along a road in Garissa County, was served a taste of their own medicine when the IED exploded killing two of them on the spot as others scattered from the scene with life threatening injuries,” said DCI.
Additionally, more than 20 people died in Somali after three car bombs exploded on the same day.
Among the twenty that lost their lives were the deputy governor of the Hiran region Abukar Sheikh Madey and the region’s health minister Zakariye Mohamed Ahmed.
The al-Shabaab militant group claimed responsibility for the attack avenging the death of their leader, Abdullahi Nadir who was the group’s co-founder.
Moreover, the Somali ministry of information confirmed the death of Abdullahi Nadir in a statement.

“His death is a thorn removed from the Somali nation, “The government is grateful to the Somali people and international friends whose cooperation facilitated the killing of this leader who was an enemy of the Somali nation.” the statement said.
Kindiki on Al shabaab
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on Sunday, October 8, in Kiambu county, said that the state intended to expose the gangs hiding in Boni Forest.
He announced a special reward to anyone who shared information that would lead to the arrest of gang members.
“We urge the public who have information that can help us trace between 16 to 17 criminals who have been initiating killings,” the CS noted.
This declaration came after the CS issued police officers combating armed militants in the volatile Lamu and Baringo Counties a shoot-to-kill order in September 22.
