Dr King’ori Wicked Edition Ends After 7 Years on NTV

Felix Omondi, the NTV host popularly known as Dr King’ori for his satirical show The Wicked Edition, has announced end of its seven-year run on the channel.  

While hosting his last show on Friday, January 12, Kingo’ri stated that the end of the show was not a result of the station cutting off some of its editorial shows. 

He explained that the show was not an editorial show, and he had a wonderful experience working with NTV. 

“The Wicked Edition is not an editorial show and our relationship with NTV has been nothing but the best.

For all the 10 years that I have worked with Nation, I leave with nothing but good vibes. 

We have laughed and gotten to know each other. We have had fun. The decision of this being our last episode with NTV is purely personal,” he stated.

Dr King’ori and the Wicked Edition Charity Work

Aside from the comic and the laughs, King’ori highlighted some of the moments he will hold dear including the charity work that the show had been doing in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

Further, he rallied for one last donation towards the construction of classes for refugees and other needs as the show ended, noting that they had made a difference with the previous contributions made through the show. 

“We have had a charity course in solidarity with UNHCR for the past five years. We have had dedicated episodes where we have raised funds to help refugees forced out of their homes and specifically the funds were going towards education.

“I remember we once went to the Kakuma refugee camp, and we intentionally wanted to build classrooms for the children because the children were going to class in shifts because they did not have enough classrooms,” he narrated.

What Next for the Wicked Edition?

The show has been running for seven years and aired over 300 episodes on NTV and had over 70 Million views on YouTube. 

Earlier in a statement, Dr King’ori thanked its viewers, supporters and crew for walking the journey with them throughout the years. 

“Your patronage propelled us to great heights, earning us recognition at the prestigious Kalasha Awards and a nomination for the best performance in TV comedy and the best TV Comedy in Kenya for the upcoming 2024 edition.

“To every member of the creative team, crew and every guest on each episode your passion and talent have been the cornerstone of our success. Your dedication shone through each episode of The Wicked Edition that we have shared with the world,” the statement read in part.

However, he indicated that show was set for a new beginning, and it would expand its reach throughout East Africa.

“This journey, while ending with NTV Kenya, is set for a new beginning as we expand our reach, venture into greater creative endeavors and continue delivering value-laden content to our fans across East Africa and beyond.

“The Wicked Edition will continue to celebrate our rich Kenyan culture and bring people together through laughter in every household. And as we chart new courses and explore fresh narratives, we invite you to join us through the plot twists,” added Dr King’ori.
