Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a suspect for stealing motor vehicle parts.
In a statement, DCI said the suspect was arrested on the night of June 5 during a raid in Kiamumbi, Kiambu County.
DCI said the suspect identified as Francis Ndichu has been breaking into people’s homes and stealing motor vehicle parts at night.
“After giving Kiamumbi residents sleepless nights by stealthily creeping perimeter fences and vandalizing their parked motor vehicles in the cover of darkness, the notorious suspect identified as Francis Ndichu Kimani, 24, was finally caught pants down,” the statement read in part.

DCI reported that cases of motor vehicle vandalism are common in the area, forcing motorists to employ security officers or sleep in their cars.
“The arrest followed a sting operation conducted along Santiago Street, a spot so frequented by the enemies of progress that some motorists who dread vandalism of their cars either leave them a distance away at presumed safe areas, spend extra cash on watchmen or sleep in the cars to keep watch themselves,” DCI said.
How DCI Officers Arrested the Suspect
Detectives led by the areas OCS positioned themselves strategically at various points in Kiamumbi.
The officers waited throughout the night until 3.40am when Ndich was spotted scaling the wall of a homestead.
According to the DCI, the suspect then moved to vandalize the headlights of a car that was parked within the homestead.

“In a matter of seconds even before the commander could direct his men on the next course of action, the suspect re-emerged clutching the front grid and headlight of a Toyota Harrier, skillfully stripped from the homeowner’s family car,” DCI said.
After his arrest, Ndich provided crucial information about his accomplices and the market for their stolen goods.
He was netted and marched to the station. Having been interrogated at length, crucial leads to accomplices and market for the stolen parts have been obtained. Further investigations are ongoing.
