Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has dismissed rumors of an ongoing crisis within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, refuting claims that a leadership emergency meeting had been convened.
Speaking at the Mercy Church of Africa (PMCA) in Soin Constituency, Kericho County, Gachagua clarified that the scheduled meeting was solely meant to address internal party matters, including ongoing UDA elections.
“What crisis? There is no crisis meeting,” Gachagua stated.
He emphasized that the meeting, convened in President William Ruto‘s absence, was intended to discuss strengthening the party and election logistics.
“This meeting is not unusual,” he added. “When the President was away, he asked me to call it. We aim to reinforce our party.”

“Let nobody set an agenda for us. We must build and strengthen our party because it has a clear ideology,” he asserted.
The DP indicated that the party would continue to hold meetings to enhance its vibrancy and strategic direction.
Gachagua’s remarks came as a response to reports suggesting President Ruto had convened a crisis National Executive Committee meeting on Saturday to address alleged cracks within the ruling party.
The President is also scheduled to chair a Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting on June 17 to rally support for the Finance Bill, 2024.

He pointed out that the two offices function in harmony and maintain cordial relations.
“Now that you asked about the President and the deputy president, to my knowledge, there is no issue. The Deputy President’s Office is an office with all the capabilities and competencies,” Mohammed said.
“If you want to ask any question or find out anything about the Deputy President, they have all the capabilities, and you can find whatever information you need there,” he added.
In his speech on Saturday, DP Gachagua affirmed his commitment to delivering on his mandate as the principal assistant of the President and urged fellow leaders to shun premature politics on succession.
“Drop this agitation and vision talks. Let us not create factions in our party and instead rally behind our President in implementing the Plan,” he said while addressing congregants at the church functions.
