During a White House press briefing on Monday, April 6th, a Washington Post reporter asked President Donald Trump whether he believes God is on America’s side in the ongoing war with Iran.
The question followed Trump’s Truth Social posts from the previous day, which included religious references amid updates on the conflict.
Trump’s Truth Social Posts
Trump shared a series of posts on Truth Social on Sunday. The posts covered the rescue of an American servicemember trapped behind enemy lines.
They also included warnings to Iran about the Strait of Hormuz. In one post Trump wrote “Glory be to GOD!” In another he wrote “Praise be to Allah.”
The messages came as the United States pressed its military campaign in the war with Iran. Trump used the platform to update followers on developments and to issue direct statements to Iran

Press Briefing Question and Answer
The Washington Post reporter raised the religious references during the Monday briefing. The reporter noted that Trump had written “glory be to God” in connection with the conflict. The reporter then asked if Trump believes God supports U.S. actions in the war.
Trump interjected before the reporter finished the question.
“I do, because God is good,” Trump said. “Because God is good and God wants to see people taken care of. God doesn’t like what’s happening. I don’t like what’s happening. Everyone says, I enjoy, I don’t enjoy this. I don’t enjoy it.”
Trump went on to say he does not like seeing people killed. He pointed to his record in office. He said he has ended eight wars and that no one else has done so.
Trump described a conversation with the person who won the Nobel Prize.
“She’s a great person, really a good person,” he said. “She said, ‘No, no, no. This is ridiculous. They gave me the Nobel Prize, President Trump ended eight wars.’”
Trump also mentioned peace deals reached during his second term. One involved defusing tensions between India and Pakistan, two nuclear-armed countries. He said the prime minister of Pakistan told him the efforts saved “from 30 to 50 million lives.”

Trump added that those results make him much happier than the current operations in Iran. He closed by saying, “We have one more to end, by the way,” in reference to the Russia-Ukraine war.
Trump tied his answer directly to the religious language in his Truth Social posts. He stated that God supports the United States because God wants people taken care of and does not like the events in the war with Iran.
The president used the exchange to contrast the current military actions with his earlier work ending other conflicts. He said he finds greater satisfaction in peace deals than in the operations now under way.
