A DoorDash delivery reached the White House on April 13, 2026. Sharon Simmons, a delivery worker from Arkansas, handed off the order at the South Lawn near the Oval Office to Donald Trump. The delivery marked the first anniversary of the No Tax on Tips policy.
According to DoorDash, she has gained about $11,000 in additional income over the past year through a combination of tips and tax savings.
Simmons has worked as a Dasher since 2022. She has completed more than 14,000 deliveries. A grandmother of ten, she uses the flexible schedule to support her family. The event highlighted how the policy affects workers who earn tips.
Dasher Keeps More of Her Earnings
Under the No Tax on Tips policy, workers do not pay federal income tax on tips. DoorDash estimates that Dashers across the country saved hundreds of millions of dollars in the first year. More than 40,000 Dashers advocated for the policy to include independent contractors in the final law.
Simmons received recognition during the delivery for her work and the extra money she kept because of the policy. DoorDash arranged the event to show the policy’s reach.
“I was an incredible honor to represent Dashers from all over the country at the White House today,” Simmons said. “Thanks to DoorDash, I have been able to provide for my family while keeping the schedule that works best for me. Now No Tax on Tips has taken things to the next level, letting me keep more of the tips I earn and deserve.”

Policy Affects Millions of Service Workers
The delivery involved food from a major chain. President Trump met with Simmons at the White House to note the $11,000 in extra take-home pay she gained under the policy. The figure comes from her reported tip earnings and tax savings over the past year.
DoorDash said the policy helps millions of workers in the gig economy. The company supported the change through advocacy with Dashers, businesses, and lawmakers.
