President Donald Trump on Thursday, April 9, posted a graphic surveillance video on Truth Social that shows a Haitian national beating a 51-year-old mother to death with a hammer outside a gas station in Fort Myers, Florida.
The attack happened on April 3, 2026, at a Chevron station on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Trump attached the video to a long statement blaming the current administration’s immigration policies for letting the suspect stay in the country.
The suspect has since been identified as Rolbert Joachin, a 40-year-old Haitian man. According to the Department of Homeland Security, Joachin entered the U.S. in August 2022, was caught at the border, and released into the country.
An immigration judge ordered him deported later that year, but the Biden administration granted him Temporary Protected Status for Haiti.
That status protected him from removal even after it expired in 2024. DHS confirmed he had an active ICE detainer after his arrest.
According to the surveillance footage, which captured the entire incident, Joachin started by smashing the windshield of the victim’s car in the parking lot.

When the woman, identified as Nilufa Easmin, a mother of two teenage daughters from Bangladesh who worked at the store, came outside to confront him, he walked straight toward her and struck her repeatedly in the head with the hammer.
Reports indicated that she died at the scene. Fort Myers police responded to the call around 7:20 a.m. and later arrested Joachin with help from ICE. He has been charged with murder in Lee County.
Trump shares the video on his handle.
Trump posted the video on Truth Social and wrote: “An Illegal Alien Criminal from Haiti, who was released into our Country by the WORST President in History, Crooked Joe Biden, and the Radical Democrats in Congress, just beat an innocent woman to death with a hammer at a gas station in Florida. The video of her brutal slaying is one of the most vicious things you will ever see.”
Trump called the man “this animal” and said the current administration’s use of Temporary Protected Status allowed him and many other Haitians to remain.
He noted that his administration is trying to end the program, but federal district court judges have blocked those efforts. The President wants the brutal murder to be an eye-opener for the judges who keep on standing on his side as he tries to correct the mess.
“This one killing should be enough for these Radical Judges to STOP impeding my Administration’s Immigration Policies, and allow us to END THIS SCAM ONCE AND FOR ALL,” Trump added.

The president went on to describe how Biden-era policies turned the U.S. into “a dumping ground” for millions of people who entered without proper vetting.
He repeated his longtime warning: “If you import the Third World, you become the Third World.” Trump said his team is working quickly on deportations to fix the situation, but warned that Democrats would reopen the border if they regain power.
He concluded by asking for prayers for the victim’s family and promising “quick and severe JUSTICE” in the case.
The White House Rapid Response 47 account also shared the video and Trump’s statement on X, boosting the message.
DHS also blames Joe Biden
DHS issued a statement calling the killing “barbaric” and directly linking it to Biden’s decision to release Joachin.
This case has renewed debate over Temporary Protected Status. The Trump administration moved to terminate TPS for Haiti, referencing improved conditions there, but court orders have kept protections in place for now.
Local reports say Easmin was well-liked by coworkers and customers. Friends described her as a hardworking single mother raising her daughters.
Joachin was nabbed on Mango Street shortly after the killing. He faces state murder charges, and federal authorities plan to pursue deportation after the criminal case, regardless of the outcome.
