An Infotrak survey has revealed that despite high awareness of the Broad-Based Government (BBG) arrangement, more Kenyans oppose it than support it.
During the presentation of the Infotrak survey on July 13, Johvine Wanyigo, the senior field operations manager, stated that the poll shows that while 79 percent of Kenyans are aware of the Broad-Based Government arrangement, only 33 percent support it.
Further, the survey indicated that out of the 79% of the aware citizens on the existence of President William Ruto’s broad-based government, 37% oppose it.
In contrast, 27 percent are neutral, and 3 percent remain undecided, with respondents neither supporting nor opposing the arrangement as of July 2026.
“Only 33% of Kenyans support the broad-based government while 37% oppose it. A further 27% neither support nor oppose, and 3% are not sure,” part of the Infotrak survey report indicated.
Infotrak survey senior field operations manager Johvine Wanyigo has, however, emphasized that the survey was conducted between June 22 and June 26, 2026, among 3,000 adults across all 47 counties using a mixed data-collection approach.
Further, he emphasized that the polls have a margin of error of ±1.79 percentage points at the 95 percent confidence level.
Infotrak Survey on Broad-Based Government
40 percent of respondents who opposed the Broad-Based Government cited poor government performance and limited development as their main reason.
Additionally, 19 percent of opponents said the arrangement serves the personal interests of politicians rather than ordinary citizens, with some Kenyans viewing the Broad-Based Government as a power-sharing deal that benefits political leaders rather than addressing citizens’ concerns.
Corruption emerged as the third biggest driver of opposition, with 16 percent of critics citing it as a reason for rejecting the arrangement.
Further, the survey revealed that 11 percent of opponents believe the arrangement weakens opposition and reduces accountability.
