Sponsored by FirstRand, these awards celebrate outstanding achievements in the rapidly expanding impact investment sector, highlighting innovative solutions that address critical social and environmental challenges.
eBee Africa, a Kenyan based electric bicycle company, was named Social Enterprise of the Year for its groundbreaking efforts in providing affordable and sustainable electric mobility solutions, which have greatly improved access to clean transportation in underserved communities.

However, he also pointed out that there is still room for improvement, stating, “The cadence and scale of investment could still be increased significantly.”
At the 250-person awards gala dinner, it was also highlighted that Africa’s impact investment market experienced major growth, with investments climbing from $38 billion in 2015 to approximately $65.2 billion in 2022.
However, despite this progress the market still experiences challenges, including regulatory uncertainties, poor visibility and credibility of interventions and underdeveloped practices for monitoring and evaluation.
It was however noted that the potential for further development remains strong, particularly in high-impact sectors such as education, healthcare, and renewable energy.
